Now it's easy to create dramatic scenery in each room of the house using simple and inexpensive items you may already have lying around.  Here are just a few examples...

1. Living room - Let there be light!  Turn on all the lamps. A home that's bright appears larger than it actually is.  And unless the view is a real eye sore, open all curtains and blinds as well. 

2. Kitchen - Use colorful place mats and dishes on your breakfast bar or table, as if you were setting the table for a welcomed guest - your future buyers!  The centerpiece should be something simple, like a bowl of colorful fruit.

3. Master bedroom - The idea is to create a look that's romantic yet open and airy.  Clear your nightstands and chest of all personal items, just leave a few necessary things. You don't want too many distractions. Splurge on some decorative pillows if you want - as a matter of fact, the more pillows the better. Keep the radio on an easy listening or jazz station. 

4. All bathrooms - Display towels that coordinate with your wall color and tie them with attractive ribbons or bows.  For a masculine look you can use rope or sisal. Fill decorative baskets with spa items like scented soaps and creams.  And don't forget to hide the wastebasket and keep the toilet lid down!

5. Dining room - If you have a dimmer switch for your chandelier, keep it on low for a soft formal glow.  Again set the table but here use your best china.  Most buyers are looking for a formal dining room.

6. Bring a little of the outside into every room possible. Greenery and fresh cut flowers are an inexpensive way to breath life into a room.  You can use clippings from your garden or even tree vines for that matter.  But only if they're alive!  Please, no dry and brittle "on their last legs" plants allowed. 

Sell It Fast Tip #5:  Odd numbers add interest

When it comes to accessories, give it the "triple whammy!" This is so easy, and it makes a huge difference: Groupings of three or odd numbers strikes the most interesting balance.  For example, three throw pillows on a sofa instead of two, or three pictures grouped on a wall.  If you're a collector, go ahead and display three of your favorite pieces on a table. 

You can stack magazines on your coffee table (home magazines are best, such as Architectural Digest or Veranda) but no more than three.

Throw one colorful afghan over chairs and sofas.

Take everything off your mantle except for a simple arrangement of one, three or five things.  Five pillar candles or one candle centerpiece. And you can add even more interest if you vary the height and size in the arrangement.

Remember - the rule of three or other odd numbers is a simple but powerful way to add interest to a room.  Be sure you use it often and in every room of the house!
